Land I Carry

Surface Noise,
Louisville, KY

September to October 2026

Conceptual Framework

When I think of Korea, I think of families and friends. But landscapes are more vivid. I think of Seoraksan (mountain) and Han Gang (river), but also fields that have no name, like that riot of tulips that greeted me on a walk. Or the way a sky sparkled like water on a summer day. When I think of the different places I lived in America, next to the faces of people are landscapes that stretch out in my mind. Landscapes live in me.

These works are memories, emotions, and imaginations of those lands.
